Original Works

All of my watercolors are created on high quality cotton paper, using Daniel Smith professional tube paints. I use a selection of 140 or 300lb paper from the following companies: Arches, Hahnemuhle and Saunders Waterford.

Collage work is created on high quality cotton paper; Arches, Hahnemuhle or Saunders Waterford, using Daniel Smith professional tube paints, layers are then secured using Books By Hand, PH Neutral PVA Adhesive.

Some of early pieces were occasionally produced with elements of wood pulp paper, Strathmore 400 Serie s or may incorporate ink work. These are identified as Mixed Media.

A great link if you are curious about the different types of watercolor papers.

“Traditional” Watercolor

While it is completely acceptable to use white watercolor paint, or white gouache in watercolor, what I mean to convey by the title “Traditional” is that I prefer to preserve the white of the paper, use masking techniques to preserve areas or lifting techniques to restore a white area on the art piece.
